"To Dance is to Live, to Live is to Dance"
Sa'ida has been performing and dancing a variety of styles for over twenty years. A regular Dance-a-holic / costume addict; she loves to explore new cultures, new ideas, and is actively pursuing a degree in Cultural Anthropology.
Throughout the ages, dance is one thing that all cultures share. From the earliest hunter/gatherer tribes to the palatial ballrooms of great empires, dance is an essiential part of human society. Much can be learned of a people by the observation of thier dances. The costumes and customs of a culture seem to be magnified in dance. If dance is taken out of context it looses most of its meaning, therefore falling into prejudice and misinterpretation. It is important to research the "Four C's" - all angles of the Culture, Customs, Costumes, and Context. It is also important to share that information. Education is the key to understanding. |
